The Nation’s “Best Master Planned Community of the Year”
Rancho Mission Viejo Claims Coveted, National Award
You heard it here first! Our residents at Rancho Mission Viejo have a whole new reason to celebrate. On the heels of winning Southern California’s Master Planned Community of the Year at the SoCal Awards, Rancho Mission Viejo and the Village of Sendero was just awarded “Best Master-Planned Community of the Year” in the United States by The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) during its 2014 International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas.
Each year, the NAHB honors excellence and innovation in the design, development, lifestyle and marketing of communities acrossthe country. This annual awards program not only showcases the latest trends in housing, but it also recognizes forward-thinking communities that are shaping the industry at large.
We’re proud to report Rancho Mission Viejo not only won this coveted national award, but the Village of Sendero was the only community from California to make the final round after an initial competition to secure five finalists from entries around the country. Competing for the top honor was Rancho Mission Viejo and finalist communities in Colorado, Georgia, Texas and Virginia.
“The nationwide competition was impressive, so being named the top master-planned community in the United States is especially gratifying,” explained Nadine Corrigan, VP of Marketing for Rancho Mission Viejo. “While it is thrilling to share this distinction with our staff, partners and residents of Sendero, the biggest prize is seeing the more than 200 residents who have moved into the community, really make it their own.”
The Judges RemarksRancho Mission Viejo was judged on a number of aspects; however, the community’s intergenerational design, innovative homes, exceptional lifestyle and history-rich legacy, helped The Ranch stand out. Rancho Mission Viejo received high marks and comments from a panel of industry experts and peers evaluating the community for new homebuyers.
“The extensive research conducted, the unique solutions discovered, and the careful implementation of this master plan is outstanding – not only in its successful grand opening and response, but in every detail. From the community gathering spaces, to the welcome center, this community reflects and inspires the desires of the market,” explained the NAHB panel of judges.
Since June 2013, Rancho Mission Viejo has already sold over 450 of the 940 homes planned for the Village of Sendero, and new residents have started their new lives at Rancho Mission Viejo.
Envisioned to ultimately provide 14,000 homes (including 6,000 homes for people age 55-plus), Rancho Mission Viejo is planned to include multiple mixed-use villages on a collective 6,000 acres of the historical 23,000-acre Rancho Mission Viejo. In addition, The Ranch community includes sites for new schools, parks and recreational facilities, as well as up to five million square feet of commercial uses. Not to mention, surrounding the villages of Rancho Mission Viejo is approximately 17,000 acres of protected open space known as The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo.
