Gavilán® 55+ Lifestyle Frequently Asked Questions

Gavilán residents have access to ALL amenities, so they can accompany their grandkids under age 18 to any of the all-age pools and other amenities!

Rancho Mission Viejo is a short drive away and approximately six miles from the beach.

The weather is temperate and sunny, the typical Southern Orange County weather that people love.

There are lots of charming restaurants in nearby San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point and San Clemente. Ladera Ranch is also just a short drive up Antonio Parkway.

Plus, the on-site Sendero Marketplace offers favorite eateries and places to shop including Gelson’s grocery store, Bagel Bistro, Nektar Juice Bar, In-N-Out Burger, Morena’s Mexican Cuisine, and Starbucks to name a few.

Although the 6,500 acres of The Ranch that are currently preserved as permanent open space are not publicly accessible, there are numerous trails and multi-use pathways available for use. Discover the various community park and trail offerings here. There are also plenty of public, docent-led hikes, lectures, and volunteer opportunities on The Nature Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo.

The Rancho Mission Viejo Fire Station (station #56) is located at Antonio Parkway/Sendero Way.

Additionally, an interim fire station is located at 31544 Cow Camp Road serving all residents of Rienda. A permanent station is planned.

The closest hospital is Mission Hospital, located in the city of Mission Viejo. There is also a site for a future Mission Health Center in Esencia.

RanchRide is currently a free shuttle program available to residents for transportation to RanchLife events, in addition to seasonal destinations and local attractions, including the cities of San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point Harbor and San Clemente. Please visit www.RanchRide.net for current shuttle schedules and pick up/drop off locations. Public bus transportation is also available through OCTA, and the Amtrak and Metrolink train station is conveniently located in downtown San Juan Capistrano.
