Village of Rienda Featured in Builder & Developer Magazine

By Sofia Feeney

In April 2022, development of Rancho Mission Viejo's Village of Rienda began. The Village is the first of six in the community's largest planning area.

"Rancho Mission Viejo was planned from day one as a place where people of all ages and life stages could find a home and the Village of Rienda carries that vision forward," said Stephanie Walker, Vice President of Marketing and Community Relations at Rancho Mission Viejo. "Rather than building one product for one type of buyer, we've released the village in phases and adjusted the mix each time based on homebuyer demand."

In the beginning phases, the village targeted first-time buyers and young families, with a mix of flats, townhomes and single-family homes. Rancho Mission Viejo then introduced active adult neighborhoods inside the Village, pairing young families with opportunities for parents or grandparents to live nearby.

In September 2026, Rancho Mission Viejo launched the sale of the final 232 single-family homes in the Village of Rienda. This new phase welcomes familiar neighborhood builders to express new offerings through a shared set of architectural styles: Progressive Spanish, Farmhouse and Contemporary.

Indigo by Lennar
Indigo features homes from one of the largest homebuilders in the nation: Lennar. The homes range in size from 2,006 to 2,427 square feet. The two-story single-family detached homes offer three to four bedrooms and two and a half to three bathrooms. "Lennar is delighted to introduce Indigo, a new neighborhood that pairs spacious, thoughtfully designed homes with a truly special setting at Rancho Mission Viejo, said John Lavender, Lennar California Coastal Division President.

Primrose by Shea Homes
"Building here has always felt like home for us and this moment reflects our continued commitment to The Ranch, a place where our communities have long been welcomed by homebuyers who value thoughtful design, modern living and a deep connection to the land," said Karen Ellerman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Shea Homes. Inside Shea Homes' Primrose, two-story single-family detached homes present four to five bedrooms and three-and-a-half to four-and-a-half bathrooms. The homes offer 2,491 to 3,009 square feet of livable space with covered decks off the primary bedrooms and lofts known as California Rooms.

Sunflower by Trumark Homes
California-based Trumark Homes delivers both duplex and single-family homes in the Sunflower neighborhood. The homes range from two to four bedrooms, two and a half to three and a half bathrooms and an option for a bonus room. Homes will
range from 1,568 to 2,357 square feet. "Homebuyers will appreciate the combination of quality craftsmanship, modern
design and everyday functionality integrated at Sunflower in the Village of Rienda," said Richard Douglass, Southern California Division President at Trumark Homes.

Wellness & Resilience
In Orange County, California, wellness and daily life go hand in hand. Reflecting a broader trend identified by the America at Home Study, which found wellness to be the single biggest purchasing motivator for homebuyers, Rancho Mission Viejo has put healthy living at the heart of its design.

In September 2025, the Global Wellness Institute (GWI) recognized The Ranch as one of the world's largest intentional wellness real estate developments. Rancho Mission Viejo has partnered with GWI since 2021, using its framework to guide everything from land planning and facility design to resident programming and resource access.
