Earth Day Celebrations to Take Over South Orange County Cities
By Kaila Mellos
Earth Day celebrations are coming to South Orange County this month, aiming to get residents involved in the cause. Multiple cities are planning cleanups, focusing on learning and taking action to make the community a better place.
San Juan Capistrano and Rancho Mission Viejo are hoping their residents can join them for two different Earth Day-related celebrations.
On Tuesday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mission San Juan Capistrano is hosting its annual Earth Day Celebration. Their grounds will be open to the public to walk on one of their garden tours, with multiple presentations to learn more about bees, pollination, and honey sampling.
There will also be a presentation to learn about the significance of the acorn, along with kids' craft activities and much more throughout the property.
All ages are welcome to join the tours. The event is free for Mission Members or with paid admission to the Mission.
In Rancho Mission Viejo, the public will be welcomed for its annual Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 26, from 2-6 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a day outdoors and participate in the multiple activities scheduled at The Pavilion.
This event, jointly sponsored by RanchLife and the Nature Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo, will be a celebration and a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to learn about various environmental topics. It's also a chance to learn more about creating a better environment.
At the event, there will be multiple vendors and healthy food booths to learn easy ways to make a difference for a healthier planet, and a chance to win prizes. The Pavilion will also have a picture area for fun family photos with festive, nature-inspired backdrops to make memories.
There will be an interactive tide-pool experience, a chance to get up close with various exotic animals, and even feeding lorikeets. There will also be a four-person rock climbing wall, a 90-foot zipline, an obstacle course, a flower-crown-making station, and a craft table provided by RMV Farms for families and their kids to enjoy.
