Weekends will never be the same, because The Ranch is located near some of the most sought-after vacation spots in the world.

Discover the region

From sunny coastlines and native forests, to historic city hangouts and outdoor play spaces—start scrolling to discover some of our favorite local landmarks.

San Juan Capistrano

There’s no place quite like San Juan Capistrano, a town with deep roots in the state’s history. Founded in 1776, the Mission San Juan Capistrano is the jewel of the California missions, and the only one in Orange County. Take an on-site tour, explore the museum and take advantage of truly unique activities and special events happening throughout the year.

Cleveland National Forest

The Cleveland National Forest is the southern-most National Forest in California. Consisting of 460,000 acres, the forest offers a wide variety of terrains to explore and recreational opportunities to enjoy. Many of the trails follow the same routes first used by the early coastal Native American tribes.

Doheny State Beach at Dana Point

Whatever your perfect beach day looks like, Doheny has you covered. Head to the northern end for surfing or to take advantage of the five-acre lawn with picnic facilities and volleyball courts. While the southern end of the beach offers campgrounds, with some sites just steps from the sand. Let the kids explore tide pools and aquariums at the visitor’s center. Or enjoy surf fishing, a popular activity among visitors.

Caspers Wilderness Park

Nearly thirty years ago, The Ranch family expanded Caspers Wilderness Park with a permanent contribution of 2,100 acres of Ranch land. That dedication added to what is now a 7,600-acre protected wilderness area nestled between the river terraces and sandstone canyons of the western Santa Ana Mountains.

Tree of Life Nursery

Tree of Life is certainly not your typical nursery. For over 40 years, they’ve built beautiful and healthy habitats one yard at a time, by providing California native plants to the public. Stroll the picturesque grounds then stay for some helpful advice on creating a natural refuge of your own. And be sure to keep an eye on their event calendar for a list of seasonal happenings.

Nestled between seven miles of hidden coves and majestic canyons, Laguna Beach is a year-round retreat for art lovers, outdoor adventurers, beach-goers, families and romantics. Easy-access roadways creating fast connections

Rancho Mission Viejo has worked with various agencies to ensure that infrastructure construction is phased with community development. This means that improvements are completed in a timely fashion, and that getting around is quick and easy for everyone.

  • Los Patrones Parkway is a new 4.5-mile north-south link between Oso Parkway and Cow Camp Road
  • Los Patrones Parkway also includes a multi-purpose pathway trail for pedestrians and cyclists that extends from Oso Parkway to Chiquita Canyon Drive
  • Los Patrones is a free County arterial highway—no toll fee is necessary!
